Christmas in July

First, I’d like to thank everyone for your kind words and encouragement for my first blog post. I was truly overwhelmed and pleasantly surprised.

As in most parts of our country, it is extremely warm here. So, you can imagine my surprise when the UPS driver dropped off a brand new Christmas tree the other day. Seems my husband ordered one from QVC. Lest you think he’s Mr. Christmas, there was a method to his madness! He hates putting up the tree each year so when he happened to see this new tree that sets up in less than a minute, he was sold! That got me thinking about ornaments!  I got out all the ornaments that I made last year so I could share the finishes with you.  It was so much fun unwrapping them all. Almost like little presents themselves.  You may recognize these as the Little House Needleworks 2010 ornament collection. There are also two ornaments featured on the cover of last year’s Just Cross Stitch Special Christmas Issue.

I met my friend Brenda from Brenda’s Stitch Corner at Inspired Needle today!  We had so much fun choosing fabric for this year’s crop of ornaments.
Look what Cathy got in:

I’m stitching Christmas Welcome on 35 count Light Cappuccino from R&R Reproductions with the called for DMC threads. Love this pattern!!! Ran out of time today, but will pick up fabric for Sweet Liberty and Partridge in a Pear Tree next time (oops! No picture of Partridge in a Pear Tree).

Finally, Brenda is the sweetest person. Look what she gifted me with today!

Until next time, I’ll be keeping cool indoors stitching this year’s ornaments to fill up my new tree!

  1. That's so funny about your DH! I'd love a tree that sets up so quickly. But my family insists on going out every year to pick a fresh tree from a tree farm. Oh well. Love all your ornaments! Beautiful stuff! Nice stash too, and gifts, from Brenda!

  2. Linda --
I'm SO glad you posted your ornaments. They are so BEAUTIFUL! When I got home on Saturday I started on the snowman and just LOVE it. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Have a good week and stay cool:))

  3. Yipeee! What fun!!! I love seeing all the ornaments together! I love the new charts you got!!! If Cathy does not have anymore can you bring yours to show me tomorrow????

Brenda was so sweet to give you such a great present! I know you must have been excited!!! Stitching buddies are simply the best!!!

  4. I love your ornies from last year - great finishing.

  5. Gorgeous ornaments - and the finishing is lovely! You've reminded me I need to get busy finishing some ornaments if I want to enjoy them this year.

  6. Your ornaments are gorgeous!! Like Michelle said--I need to get busy on mine. Nice gift from Brenda!

  7. Gosh those ornaments are gorgeous, both the stitching and the finishing! Nice charts from Brenda and I love some of the other pieces you have shared. Wonderful stitching all around!!

    Welcome to blogland!:)

  8. I love your ornaments!!!! Cute finishing :-).

BTW, I had to switch to the Google Chrome browser to be able to post a comment, LOL.

  9. I'm so glad you've started blogging. Your stitching and finishing are gorgeous, and you're going to be a great inspiration to many of us who check in to see what you've been up to!

  10. Welcome to blogland --- and I'll be right over to gaze at your tree ... even though I'm really annoyed with you for showing me that Sweet Liberty pattern which I now simply have to go get.

Congrats on lovely ornies and a hubbie who plans for a positive change in the weather :)
